Role Description

Our Device Test and Reliability team, located in Durham, North Carolina is looking for a Technician Associate. This position will provide support to VMRD Engineering by building, testing, and updating devices under development by Zoetis.

The individual suited for the role will have good hands-on skills and the ability to communicate with others in-person and by email.

The Technician Associate will be responsible for:

  • On prototypes and test stands, perform wiring, subassemblies, tubing / soldering, execute tests.
  • Support technicians/engineers on ongoing tests/ troubleshoot monitor test stands, acquire data, or make observations.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisor, and teams.
  • Maintain, calibrate, or otherwise upkeep equipment according to a documented process.
  • Participate in problem-solving discussions with engineers on improvements and revisions,
  • Complete documentation and summarize findings related to a requested task.
  • Upkeep lab space as needed.
  • Follows standard procedures to complete tasks, some of which may vary in scope, sequence, complexity, and timing. Provide feedback on work instructions and methods, noting deviations where seen.

Education and Experience:

Required: AS in Engineering or similar technology-related field with 2+ years' experience in an electro-mechanical device development environment

Preferred: AS in Engineering or similar technology-related field with 3+ years engineering in an electro-mechanical device development environment

Required:

  • Independent critical thinking, problem solving, seek input or assistance of others.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork capabilities
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data collection.
  • Able to read review work orders, schematics, and CAD.
  • Tool use, including a history of executing projects requiring component modification.

Preferred:

  • Light machining: drill press, mills, bandsaws
  • Task tracking through JIRA or other similar workflow tools.
  • SolidWorks or other CAD
