SLSCO, Ltd is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our team. Our team provides the full spectrum of general contracting, construction management, infrastructure, disaster response, health and humanitarian services throughout North America and beyond. We serve all levels and sectors of government and private industry in a wide range of markets.

The SLS Senior Project Accountant works directly with the project team(s) to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of the assigned project(s). The SLS Senior Project Accountant has direct responsibility for all AP, AR, and compliance management processes. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, an effective communicator and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The SLS Senior Project Accountant position will report directly to the SLS Division Controller, or her designee, and ensure integration of financial accounting and treasury management practices, as necessary at the direction of the SLS VP of Accounting and/or Financial Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and manages project AP, AR, financial tracking and reporting of assigned projects.
  • Ensures compliance with the Company's financial policies and procedures, including revenue recognition and payables processing.
  • Manages project document repositories and contract compliance.
  • Manages operational data maintaining accuracy and integrity.
  • Works with Financial Controller to set up internal control systems and develop and maintain proper policies for financial reporting.
  • Reviews financial data monthly to ensure completeness of the data.
  • Produces monthly owner draw requests/bills and presents them as required.
  • Reviews monthly subcontractor/vendor pay requests against contract expectations related to budget & required support.
  • Understands and manages job overhead costs (payroll hours, office supplies, consumables, etc.)
  • Analyzes and forecasts project profitability, revenue, budgets, and margin.
  • Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
  • Supports management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting, analysis requests and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in complex construction programs.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to handle pressure daily.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel (Xlookups/Vlookups and Pivots are minimum expectations).
  • Experience with CMIC and/or Textura preferred.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 15 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
