GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Operations Intern will assess the process flow against the facility's hazard analyses and review all corresponding Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) mentioned for both FSQA and other support departments (i.e. Operations, Facilities/Maintenance, Warehouse, and/or HR). These SOPs shall be assembled and converted into EtQ's Document Control module for ease of accessibility.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION

  • Compile SOPs from all departments that support the facility's hazard analyses
  • Make recommendations for the creation, modification, and/or merging of SOPs based on procedural observations and execution
  • Collaborate and participate in team meetings
  • Effectively communicate observations made when reviewing the SOPs against personnel execution
  • Effectively communicate scientific and technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Create and deliver a final presentation to the executive team of Dole Fresh Vegetables.
  • Other duties as assigned



INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • Summer 2025, 12-week internship
  • 100% onsite (not a remote internship)
  • Pay Rate: $20 - $22 per hour
  • No relocation or housing assistance provided

Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills required
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills required
  • Strong Organizational Skills, Computer Skills, and Communication Skills required
  • Microbiology knowledge preferred
  • EtQ software or data management knowledge preferred but not required



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
  • Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, lift up to 25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and work in a cold environment.
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions



WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 40-hour workweek, no overtime expected
  • Flexible as needed with ability to work outside typical business hours (early morning or late evening may be needed)
  • 12-week internship
  • No travel expected

Required Experience
EDUCATION LEVEL AND FIELDS OF STUDY

Fall 2025 rising Junior or Senior obtaining a degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Food Safety, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field
