Litigation Associate

Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking an Associate to join our Litigation practice in the Firm's Chicago office. The successful candidate will have one to four years of experience in commercial litigation work, corporate law, or finance law at a law firm, in-house law department, or financing company.

Examples of specific types of desired experience include the following:

• Representing financial institutions and senior secured lenders in workouts/restructurings and enforcement proceedings, contract disputes, avoidance actions and other types of commercial litigation
• Providing advice to clients on Uniform Commercial Code, federal and state regulatory compliance, and consumer and institutional regulatory compliance matters
• Attending mediations, expert and lay witness depositions, and representing clients in hearings and arbitration proceedings
• Drafting and negotiating pleadings, motions, restructuring documents, forbearance agreements
• Negotiating and preparing settlement agreements

The candidate should also possess impressive academic credentials; the ability to simultaneously negotiate and efficiently juggle multiple cases and other competing work demands; strong interpersonal, analytical, oral communication, research, and writing, editing, and proofreading, and organizational skills as well as superior negotiating skills; strong advocacy and motions practice skills, and an understanding of business, industry and market issues. The successful candidate will be available to work during non-standard work hours and work long hours when necessary.

Candidate must be a member in good standing or eligible to waive into the Illinois Bar.

In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $225,000 and $310,000.
