Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

Iridium is looking for an experienced Network Infrastructure Administrator II to join our team. As a key member, you'll need a diverse set of IT skills, advanced troubleshooting abilities, and a strong work ethic. No two days will be the same as you tackle various challenges. You'll follow data center best practices and work with a wide range of technologies, including Storage & Backup administration, VOIP, Cisco UCS, network routers and switches, and conference room audio/video systems.

What You'll Do:

    Create and maintain infrastructure diagrams of all server rooms, IDFs and Comms Rooms including network, systems, and storage elements
  • Install and participate in configuring/troubleshooting various network equipment to include physically racking and cabling systems. The equipment includes routers, switches, servers, wireless equipment, VOIP, storage devices, firewalls, temperature sensors, power, racks, and security alarms
  • Provide support for storage and backups on VNX, Unity, Pure and/or NetApp systems, including installation, configuration, maintenance and troubeshooting
  • Utilize your knowledge and skills to analyze complex technical data and help bring various IT issues to a quality resolution
  • Play a role in maintaining existing IT network elements; implement upgrades, replacements, and new equipment as directed
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for conference room audio/video systems, including vendor escalation


Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You'll Need to Succeed:

    • Bachelor's degree in a computer science related field or 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
    • 2+ years of experience working in a data center or installing IT hardware in corporate offices; data center team member is preferred
    • Must be able to learn and implement data center operations and procedures
    • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting IT infrastructure. Examples of troubleshooting experiences that qualify includes experience with any of the following:
      • Installing, configuring, and/or fixing: routers, switches, UCS servers, UCS FI switches, VMware, blade servers, unix servers, file systems, VOIP, SBC, SIP, phones, storage devices, EMC/fiber channel, raw storage, or file based storage, backups, databases, Pure, Unity, Meraki wireless, fiber & copper cabling, power AC/DC, cooling, fiber management trays, security alarms, audio and video system hardware
    • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain data center infrastructure
    • Ability to run cables for voice, video, and data networks
    • Ability to troubleshoot network issues
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
    • Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
    • Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
    • Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others

    Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

    • Experience working in a data center environment
    • Data center training
    • Related certifications
    • Any Cisco certification

    We'll also need you to:

    • Occasionally work outside of normal business hours
    • Be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes at least 3 days in-office, 2 days from home
    • US Citizenship is required

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For in person meetings, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
