About the College/Unit/Department |
Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students. The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.
In support of its mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure housing options where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported, University Housing engages staff members in competency-based training and students in curriculum-based engagement focused on community building, interpersonal skills, social awareness and responsibility, and well-being. |

Additional Schedule Information |
This position will work an average of 30 hours per week, with the potential to hit 40 hours during peak periods. The standard hours for the position are between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., M-F, but weekend and evening hours will be necessary. |

Supervision
- Recruit, select, train, supervise and evaluate 10-15 resident assistants.
- Establish and enforce departmental standards.
- Facilitate weekly staff meeting to disseminate information and promote team development.
- Meet regularly with staff to provide motivation, on-going feedback and support.

- Implement the residential curriculum by creating developmental experiences that achieve educational outcomes for the community.
- Promote and support educational initiatives in the residence halls.
- Serve as an administrative officer for students involved in potential housing policy violations.

Crisis Management and Student Support
- Be knowledgeable of established protocols designed to guide responses to emergency and other unexpected events.
- Work closely with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to resolve problems, answer questions, and clarify policy.
- Follow up with students of concern and residents involved in incidents that occur in the community.

- Participate in all community opening, closing and transition-related activities.
- Complete administrative tasks (e.g., curriculum assessments, purchasing paperwork) in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner according to established guidelines.

- Perform other duties as assigned, in alignment with the purpose of the position.
