We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Financial Consultant to join the Medicaid Revenue Reporting Team to assist with effectively managing and reporting for one or more of our Medicaid health plans for our company. This position is fast paced and always changing so it is a challenging role that offers opportunities to work directly with customers and leaders, learning multiple systems, utilizing SAS/SQL skills and collaborating with multiple business segments and government entities on streamlining processes and analytical trend analysis. This position offers a supportive team environment, cross-training opportunities, and solid potential for growth.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Be the primary Finance point of contact with Operations, CFO, Health plan Accounting, FP&A, Actuary, Claims, Med Economics, Revenue Integrity, and Revenue Accuracy business partners for your Medicaid health plan(s)
  • Develop, perform and manage the analyses of business and financial metrics as well as performance measures for one or more of our Medicaid markets
  • Analyzing large ambiguous datasets while transforming the data into structured and user-friendly reporting
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial information and summarize for leadership with reporting monthly
  • Work closely with the business to develop, recommend and establish strategies, plans and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies
  • Work with minimal guidance to assess, adapt and interpret customer needs and requirements in a complex matrix environment
  • Act as a resource to others and provide feedback and guidance
  • Prepare ad-hoc requests as necessary by management team

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related
  • 3+ years of financial and operational management experience
  • 3+ years of experience working collaboratively and influence across a matrix environment to drive revenue enhancement and expense management initiatives
  • Experience driving business performance in a high growth environment
  • Work experience anticipating Accounting, Financial Reporting, forecasting and operational issues, assessing their implications and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (Pivot Tables, advanced formula usage, data analysis)
  • Proven comfortable working with large ambiguous datasets with persistence to find the right answer
  • Proven ability to independently solve complex problems and conduct complex analyses
  • Proven ability to work and learn independently seeking guidance on only the most complex tasks
  • Proven ability to develop innovative approaches to solving problems and gain efficiencies for the team
  • Demonstrates flexibility to seamlessly reprioritize and pivot on deliverables
  • Demonstrates a high degree of Accountability
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Financial planning & analysis experience
  • Healthcare or insurance industry experience
  • SmartView, PeopleSoft Financials, SAS/SQL, Fin360

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
