Position Summary

The Salvation Army St Paul Eastside is "doing the most good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners.

The Custodian ensures a clean, organized, and functional facility by performing custodial duties, maintaining grounds, supporting events, and assisting with minor repairs and projects.

$13.99 - $16.00/hour, 20 - 24 hours/week

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

• Custodial Duties (85%): Perform custodial duties to maintain clean, tidy, and sanitary conditions throughout assigned areas (e.g., Chapel, offices, gym, common areas, bathrooms).
• Grounds and Maintenance (5%): Maintain building grounds including picking up rubbish and light landscaping. This may include some snow removal and vehicle maintenance.
• Event Support (5%): Assist with special/seasonal events, including room set up, driving supplies, etc.
• Minor Repairs and Projects (5%): Assist maintenance with minor repairs and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of custodial experience.
• Pass background checks.
• Valid driver's license and clear MVR preferred.

Competencies

• Working knowledge of safe handling of equipment, chemicals, and materials regularly used in basic maintenance and custodial duties.
• Ability to perform some or all physical tasks including lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, and other custodial duties.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to use PC.

Working Conditions

• Regular physical work and must be able to stand, bend, crouch, reach, climb, and walk for most of the shift.
• Regularly lift 50 pound and lift 75 pounds required occasionally.
• Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Driving/Travel Requirements

If approved to drive, may drive an agency vehicle locally to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
