Job Summary

The Food Safety and Compliance Specialist position is a key role for the quality team within the facility and will partner with Operations, Sourcing, Planning, and R&D/Engineering teams to ensure products meet or exceed customer requirements. This role is responsible for oversight and guidance to ensure compliance to product and process specification requirements through adherence to the multitude of QA and FS processes in place. Additionally, this role serves as the facility Document Control Administrator as well as supports EPD and NPD projects.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the major QA and Food Safety programs and processes including but not limited to:

    • Cleaning and Sanitization
    • Environmental Sampling and Monitoring
    • Document control
    • cGMP audit program/ Internal Audit Program
    • Pest Management


  • Maintains and revises facility HACCP/Food Safety Plan
  • Lead internal audits for compliance with NASC, USDA, FDA, and customer requirements
  • Lead Product Safety and Adverse CCS case investigations and closure
  • Support NPD through Project review and sign-off in SPX and Workfront
  • Participate in quarterly Mock Recall exercises
  • Complete Raw material/ Ingredient/ Finished Product risk assessment and determine testing requirements
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's degree required (Science or related field preferred).
  • ASQ or equivalent certification (PCQI, CPQA, Yellow or Green Belt or CQA) preferred
  • 3-5 years Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledgeable in Quality Management, Quality Inspection and Calibration standards such as ISO 9001, ANSI Z1.4, NIST
  • Knowledgeable in QC inspection and sampling systems
  • Knowledgeable in Food Safety and HACCP

Required Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent understanding of data analysis tools including Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are fundamental
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and communications skills
  • Knowledgeable in SAP
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Mechanical Aptitude


Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
