Job Title: Director of Billing and Collections
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Woodbury, NY (once/week in office, the rest work from home)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Billing and Collections to lead and manage the billing operations and accounts receivable functions within a prestigious professional services organization. The Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing department policies and procedures to ensure smooth and efficient billing processes, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the entire revenue cycle, including client onboarding, invoicing, and collections, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the Billing and Collections team, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and staff development.
  • Identify and address issues that delay timely payments, working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve and prevent recurring problems.
  • Engage with senior leaders and clients to advise on complex billing and collections matters, offering strategic insights and solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of billing and collection processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to optimize billing procedures and improve overall billing and collections efficiency.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports on accounts receivable and other key metrics to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and actionable insights.
  • Ensure a seamless monthly close cycle, meeting all required deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain controls to safeguard the integrity and accuracy of client billing processes.
  • Review and prepare daily, weekly, or monthly billing reports as needed.
  • Regularly update and document Billing and Collections protocols and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading billing and collections teams, with a focus on both U.S. and/or international markets.
  • Experience with global billing and collections systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Strong background in process improvement, workflow management, and operational efficiencies.
  • Proven track record of driving cash collections and improving accounts receivable aging.
  • Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and motivating teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Experience in a global professional services environment (e.g., consulting, accounting, or management services) is preferred.
  • Strong ability to influence teams and stakeholders outside of direct reporting lines.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary range of $150,000 - $190,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
