As an PRINCIPAL ENGINEER, AUTOMATION & CONTROL ENGINEERING, supporting our ENGINEERING MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS TEAM, you will be responsible for the designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. at our HOUSTON FACILITY IN HOUSTON, TEXAS, US.

In this role, a typical day will include:
  • Experience with Automation Equipment associated controls is required.

  • The ability to self-start and work individually with product related processes and troubleshoot quality issues is required.

  • This position is a hands-on with expectations of electro-mechanical skills. Use of small hand tools required.

  • Use of various engineering software packages for development, modification, and documentation of equipment function. Software tools include PLC programming for equipment control, Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, vision development for inspection and robotic pick and place functions, robotics development is required.

  • Understanding of Electrical and Pneumatic principles and related schematics is required.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks modeling Software is expected.

  • Use of document management control SW / quality systems documentation SW is desirable.

  • Design of sequence of production equipment operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery in response to factory conditions.

  • Support other engineering groups in the life cycle of equipment (Initial Design Specifications, Factory Acceptance, Validation, Sustaining Production Support).

  • Design arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Assist and lead in maintenance of manufacturing equipment.

  • Mentor younger engineer.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours: 8 Hour Shift (Flexible between 8:00am - 7:00pm) depending on Business Needs with the ability to be on call as needed)

  • Travel Requirements: 0 to 10%

  • Relocation assistance: No

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with LabVIEW SW

  • Leak & Flow Testing of Medical Device

  • Form/Film/Seal Packing equipment Processing

  • Ultrasonic Welding Processing

  • 6+ Years of Relevant Industry Experience
