Finance Analyst

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the Senior Director of Academic Operations in key areas of finance including budgets and academic seed. This position will analyze complex financial data for proposals and strategic initiatives. The position will monitor operating revenue and expenses to budget. The position will be responsible for evaluating and assessing drivers of budget variances and working with department to develop appropriate reporting and dashboarding to measure academic finances and metrics. This individual must be prepared to lead academic projects, presentations, and data analysis projects. A strong candidate will have experience in finance.


Job Summary

Prepares and analyzes financial data for senior leadership in budgetary and financial planning. Tracks and analyzes budgetary developments. Reviews financial and budgetary proposals and assists in preparing complex reports and statements.


Essential Functions
  • Supports business operations by analyzing moderately complex requirements.
  • Assesses current practices, collects information, and analyzes industry trends to determine organizational objectives.
  • Designs new, moderately complex projects and programs by analyzing clients' requirements.
  • Prepares technical reports by analyzing and summarizing the information and trends.
  • Gathers and analyzes data for potential growth. Identifies business opportunities.
  • Assists with project management for selected projects. Tests business processes and recommend improvements.
  • Writes clear and well-structured business requirements/ documents.
  • Creates reports, dashboards, and visualizations to understand business performance. Develops and maintains reporting tools.
  • Performs data discovery, moderately complex analysis, and modeling.

Physical Effort

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time while using a computer.
