General Summary:

This position will serve as a Security resource, thought leader, consultant, generalist and support to MGB facilities including but not limited to: Home Care, Urgent Care Centers, iCARE, PCPOs and Specialty Pharmacies at the MGBMG. This position will assist in overall centralization of the MGB Security function.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

-Serve to assist CSO in planning and executing security strategy

-Coordinate risk assessments for all MGB facilities on a periodic basis to provide recommendations for technology, training, operational improvements, and protective strategies. This will ensure these facilities are in line with regulatory compliance, liability avoidance, unified standards and guidelines as well as creating safe facilities for patients, visitors, and staff

-Direct management of the Salem Integrated Care Security staff (3 FTE) and back up management of MGH satellite facilities and Assembly Row, MGB Security staff, and will manage security staff at any new MGBMG sites

-Work with the Vice President/Chief Security Officer in the role of MGB Security Council Chief of Staff to create and ensure consistent processes and policies exist at all MGB entities

-Security consultation in architectural or construction phases on optimal planning for security

-Training coordination for employees and/or managers of MGB facilities to include healthcare violence/conflict, armed intruder, suspicious person, theft, etc.

-Member of the MGB iCare and MG Environment of Care Committee, participating in EOC rounding at iCare sites on occasion

-Helps assess and coordinate Security technology needs, usage, and training

-Provides consultation services on risks, employee security issues, enterprise risk strategies

-Provides proactive or reactive response to serious incidents, ensures proper planning, handling, communication, resource deployment and debriefing

-Provides expertise in security staffing needs for these facilities and if needed, assists with hiring, training, and post orders

-Liaison with all property/facility managers and administrative managers at each site for security/risk management issues and needs

-Provides assistance with creating and implementing emergency plans and proactive preparedness exercises and training in these facilities

-Ensures consistency of policies, operating principles, and liability avoidance for MGB satellite facilities

-Conducts or assists in cursory investigations for these sites around various criminal, unethical, or nefarious behavior

-Serves as a liaison to the local law enforcement leaders for these sites to have relationships and expose them to the needs of the sites

-Serves as the liaison for security vendors (labor and equipment) for these sites

-Other duties as assigned



Qualifications

Skills and Competencies Required

-Five or more years of experience in Security management and leadership

-Some experience with Security training preferred

-Exposure and some knowledge of basic Security technology

-Experience conducting Risk Assessments, a strong plus

-Strong interpersonal, negotiation and political skills

-Ability to operate in a team environment

-Ability to juggle multiple priorities and be adept at switching functions

-Ability to prioritize work successfully

-Strategic planning and thinking necessary

-Involvement in Security related associations, highly preferred

-Superb communication skills a must

-Excellent writing skills necessary

Education

Bachelor's Degree required

Experience

A minimum of five years in a security leadership/consultant or management role is required

Supervisory Responsibility

Direct supervisory responsibility as stated above

Working Conditions

Will need to be mobile with vehicle to drive between sites. Working conditions will be primarily satellite facilities with space at Assembly Row and MGH
