POSITION SUMMARY

In this Social Media Engagement Manager role, you will engage the UConn community through vibrant, innovative, and inclusive storytelling and will be responsible for executing compelling marketing for fundraising and alumni and donor events, programs, and activities. By using best practices in social media marketing and community building, you will manage the Foundation's social media channels, create compelling content, and contribute to social media strategy.

In this role, you will:



  • Implement the Foundation's social media strategy and manage social media platforms, including the calendar.
  • Maintain the Foundation and UConn's brand on social media through exposure, influence, and engagement.
  • Serve as the primary content creator for all Foundation social media platforms, including development and execution of all social media campaigns and posts. Collaborate with writers, editors, graphic designers, and multimedia producers on content development.
  • Lead social media marketing efforts for fundraising as well as alumni, donor, and affinity group engagement events, programs, and activities. Collaborate with Creative Digital Strategy and Constituent Engagement staff to develop and execute plans and content that integrate into the full scope of digital and print marketing.
  • Lead strategy building for paid advertising and amplifying content related to social media campaigns. This includes Meta, LinkedIn, and Google.
  • Collaborate with University counterparts to coordinate social media efforts and cross-promote content.
  • Collaborate with Associate Director of Digital Engagement on the Husky Storytellers program to create thoughtful and engaging social media content.
  • Develop and grow social media campaigns for recruitment and retention efforts (i.e., candidate recruitment, new hire and promotion announcements) in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Monitor social media analytics, manage reporting, and make recommendations to enhance effectiveness. Use data-driven knowledge to recommend messaging and themes for multichannel campaigns. Analyze emerging media trends and platforms.
  • Monitor social media channels, identify and engage with relevant online communities, and manage alumni network Facebook groups. Listen to the University community-especially alumni, donors, and friends-on digital channels to recommend content approaches and campaign themes. Actively foster community management to strengthen relationships and enhance engagement across all platforms.
  • Support clearly defined and strategic fundraising priorities within the campaign and articulate compelling cases to advance these priorities.
  • Model and articulate the Foundation's organizational core values at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Collaborate with department and stakeholders to steward donors, engage with alumni, and support campaigns specific to your department.

Leadership

Provide visible leadership across the entire organization by engaging in organization-wide activities such as departmental meetings, all-staff meetings, and staff events.

  • Demonstrate experience in new media or social media strategy; implementation and measurements with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and analytics; and listening tools (e.g., Sprout Social).
  • Possess strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of graphic design and awareness of design needs to complement content and platforms.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills.
  • Be able to take initiative, think strategically, work independently, and work collaboratively with a creative team.
  • Be able to work to the demands of the position, which may involve nights and/or weekends and exceed a 40-hour work week. Willingness to work flexible hours when activities fall outside business hours.
  • Demonstrate attention to and concern for others.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing social media channels professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and project management software (e.g., Basecamp).


Salary:

The expected salary for this position is $58,000+. It will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also placing an emphasis on internal equity.
