ROLE: Responsible for technical materials preparation and evaluation of product in support of engineering and quality activities to ensure conformance to design and product processes. Scope of materials includes working with metallic or composite materials, such as graphite, metal alloys, ceramics and glass, plastics and polymers among others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform research activities and other tasks as necessary in lab environment
  • Record observations and measurements and reports results
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in a particular field.
  • Perform a variety of tests and is knowledgeable with instrumental techniques.
  • Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Perform a variety of tasks such as: Section, mount, polish, and etch samples (which includes making up etchants).
  • Perform sample evaluations in accordance with work instructions. Evaluations include grain size and microstructure features, macro and micro-hardness testing, spectroscopy, filler content determination, surface treatment characterization, among others.
  • Use lab equipment such as Optical Microscopes, Spectrometer, and Scanning Electron Microscope in the materials characterization process.
  • Inspect welds and brazes to ensure conformance to product requirements.
  • Preparation and evaluation of thermal spray coatings for in-house process validation.
  • Assist materials engineers in reverse engineering process of aircraft parts when needed.
  • Assist with inventory, receipt, inspection and stocking of materials and equipment when needed.
  • Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining clean rooms and equipment.
  • Work under general supervision.
  • Perform other duties, as required.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Required

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years of work experience in related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES

Language: English Excellent written and oral communication skills

Computer Skills: MS Office; Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Organizational Skills: Excellent organization skills; ability to prioritize; ability to meet deadlines and strong sense of urgency; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze all aspects of a situation to gain thorough insight to make decisions

Customer Service: High level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
