Job Summary

Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of a large department with wide scope of responsibilities. Uses advanced administrative concepts and organization objectives to resolve complex issues. Manages, plans, administers, and coordinates the administrative operations of the department, of which, the operations are significantly complex and / or broad in scope. Performs short- and long-term planning related to department objectives. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Provides administrative and analytical support for the Central Resource group. Supports overall Nursing Administrative Office operations, including but not limited to, general Staffing Office management, payroll administration and staffing resource management. Acts as the liaison between UCSF and third-party vendor manager for supplementary staff. Provides support for purchasing, HR, scheduling, assists with FTE variance reporting and monitors payroll. Incumbent verifies and monitors license and certification requirements for determined UCSF Health cost centers, as per Medical Center policies

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $123,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Central Resource Group consists of the Adult Float Pool and the Nursing Administrative Office, including all programs falling under its purview. Nursing Office operations include the management of operational staffing and resource allocation, attendance tracking, monitoring/tracking of RN licensure and required certifications.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as , rpayroll4and scheduling.
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Smartsheet
  • Experience with Tableau, SQL, PeopleSoft

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's Degree in Health Care
  • Previous experience in healthcare environment
  • 3 years experience with computerized scheduling system
  • 3 years experience with computerized payroll platform such as HBS or UKG, or other vendor payroll platform
