Senior Accountant - Investments & Stock Compensation

The Senior Accountant of Financial Instruments and Benefits Accounting is primarily responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reporting of Aon's corporate ledgers with a focus on global stock compensation plans, external debt, and investments. This includes key close responsibilities, such as preparation of external reporting footnotes, IFRS reporting, and forecast/budget analysis. The role focuses on process improvements along with ad hoc projects.

What the day will look like

Responsible for timely and accurate submission of a variety of accounting activities including, but not limited to:

  • Maintains general ledger and reconciles general ledger accounts related to shares, share based compensation, and external debt.
  • Coordinates monthly journal entries related to stock allocations, stock issuances, repurchases, share based compensation, and external debt.
  • Prepares quarterly and annual exhibits, 10Q and 10K financial disclosures, and workpapers related to shares, share based compensation, and external debt.
  • Assists in the planning and forecasting process.
  • Assists with the preparation of IFRS reporting and Aon plc standalone financials.
  • Acts as a liaison with external/internal auditors, Aon's stock plan administrator, External Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, Investor Relations, and Tax.
  • Assists management with special projects, requests for financial information from business unit leaders and ad hoc reporting.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5+ years of experience in an accounting/finance related role.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting and reporting systems, Workday and TM1 preferred.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
