DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
As an aid, our professional social services personnel will train you to effectively assist them in providing supportive services to children, youth, and families and people who are mentally disabled. Work involves transporting and escorting clients to medical, dental, and other appointments and to foster homes, court hearings, and recreation activities. This includes scheduling appointments, providing basic information, and contacting clients who miss appointments.
Other responsibilities involve helping clients and families with the everyday activities of living including home maintenance and care. You will also assist with the distribution and delivery of equipment, clothing, and other belongings of clients as well as supervise children during office visits and in crisis situations in the home. Work also includes routine clerical and office duties such as handling mail, answering the phone, typing, and maintaining waiting and visiting rooms.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from high school; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Requirements:

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Westmoreland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Westmoreland County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
