About the Position
The Director of Corporate and Personal Protection will oversee the security of all WEI staff, physical assets, and operations, and will provide or facilitate security services for members of the Walton family. Specifically, this position will develop, implement, and/or mature key security functions including but not limited to physical security operations, technical security, executive protection, travel security, event security, threat management, protective intelligence, business continuity, security incident response, crisis management, insider threat, security training and awareness, and security investigations.
The Director will establish a vision and strategy for security at WEI and for the Walton family and will execute against that strategy to build and mature critical security capabilities over time. The Director will be a key member of WEI's senior staff team and will lead the organization's agenda on security matters and will serve as incident commander during response to security incidents.

The Real Estate team assists the family members with all property related activities including acquisition, design, and development. They manage a variety of properties including both personal and commercial real estate, vehicles, equipment, and other property related assets throughout the country. The Real Estate team also supports the Walton Family Foundation and Walton Enterprises office buildings.

Responsibilities

What you will do

You will lead security programs and operations designed to manage the security risks of WEI and members of the Walton family.

Responsibilities

    Lead security for WEI and members of the Walton family globally.
  • Clarify security roles and responsibilities, including what security services WEI will provide to members of the Walton family.
  • Design a long-term security strategy and target operating model with triaged resource needs.
  • Develop and implement multi-year and annual operating plans. Collaborate with WEI senior leadership and key internal partners to shape a creative and pragmatic vision, structure, and strategy for long-term organizational planning.
  • Develop and mature the capabilities to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from security incidents.
  • Serve as the senior incident commander for security-related incidents impacting WEI and/or members of the Walton family.
  • Develop training and awareness campaigns to build a culture of security at WEI.
  • Develop and implement the strategy, governance, and execution of physical security operations, technical security, executive protection, travel security, event security, threat management, protective intelligence, business continuity, security incident response, crisis management, insider threat, security training and awareness, and security investigations.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage key vendors, including security guards, protective services, security technology integrators, and others, and hold them accountable to documented standards and agreements.
  • Advance efforts to develop an innovative intelligence collection and analysis cycle while exploring new partnerships with data and technology providers.
  • Establish qualitative and quantitative metrics to measure the maturity and impact of the Corporate Security & Protective Services organization.
  • Ensure the risk-based protection of all WEI locations.
  • Establish a governance structure of policies and procedures and educate all relevant stakeholders on what to do and expect during a security incident.
  • Establish standards for the protection of offices, residences, travelling principals, and events.
  • Effectively liaise with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, other relevant public safety organizations, and with corporate security stakeholders and affiliated companies.
  • Recruit, engage, develop, and retain superior talent. Develop and maintain a culture that is consistent with WEI's values and brings out the best in people, allowing them to perform at the highest possible level.


Qualifications

Qualifications required for your success

  • Minimum of fifteen years of experience, including progressively responsible management experience, specifically in law enforcement, national security, homeland security, corporate security, intelligence, and security program/project management.
  • Significant familiarity and experience with security, law enforcement, and threat trends.
  • Effective leadership and management skills. Able to bring out the best in others. Able to build and manage a distributed team across time zones. Ability to prioritize and focus.
  • Exemplary ability to communicate with executives, principals, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational communication, program management, and project management skills.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience with stakeholders that have varying levels of security knowledge and experience.
  • Experience building security programs and managing budgets in family offices and/or the private sector.
  • Experience developing business strategies and advocating for security needs to non-security stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, if necessary, to support security programs for our family members, family entities, WFF, and WEI.

Additional Helpful Experience Includes

  • Security experience working in a Family Office.
  • Knowledge of security standards, best practices and general knowledge.
  • ASIS International Certified Protection Professional.
