Job Summary
This position reports to the PACU Nurse Managers supporting the Pre and Post Op areas for Perioperative Services. The primary focus of this position is to oversee the administrative operational functions of the non clinical PACU areas of these units (Pre-Op, PACU, UTSS, SDSC, Children's Surgery Center). This includes oversight of non licensed personnel of Operating Room Assistants, Medical Office Service Coordinators, and Patient Navigators; and directly supervises the supervisory staff. Participates in planning with the PACU management team. Provides input to for staffing plans for non clinical personnel related to growth and expansion. Oversees personnel activities and actions relating to recruitment/selection of non clinical PACU staff. Participates in FTE budget planning. Manages expenses as a steward of the University and collaborates with the Perioperative Services Business Manager on procurement. Develop and monitor relevant metrics to maintain standards and affect improvement needed for the successful service of these areas. Foster relationships with internal and external Periop hospitals units to optimize workflows that support patient care. Apply By December 3, 2024 Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, health administration public administration (or other related field); or if enrolled, completion of bachelors degree program within one year of hire as a condition of employment.
- Recent administrative experience working in a medical center or other related health maintenance organization. Five (5) years of work experience in a patient care environment. Ability to understand and implement the requirements of providing safe patient care within a highly regulated and constantly changing environment. Two (2) years supervisory experience leading, managing, coaching staff/ teams to achieve standards of operational and service excellence. Demonstrated personnel management experience in the recruitment and selection of staff.

Department Overview The PACU is focused on the recovery of patients from anesthetic agents, airway management, pain control, sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring for post-surgical adult and pediatric patients as well as patients from other units such as radiology, GI lab, pulmonary lab, cardiac catheterization lab, and labor and delivery. The PACU may function as an overflow ICU when the ICUs are at capacity. There are four PACUs; Pavilion PACU (63 bays) and CSC PACU (24 bays), SDSC PACU (12 bays) and University Tower 2, UT2 (28 bays). Position Information
