Position Summary

This is responsible administrative and supervisory work in food service management in a large dining commons. Assists in overall operation as manager directs. Assists in planning, organizing and directing Food Services personnel in food production and services. Holds regular production meetings with production staff. Assists in conducting regular sanitation inspection program. Work is performed under the direction of the Food Operations (Dining) Manager or Dining Commons Manager, and is evaluated through observation and in terms of customer satisfaction. All other related duties as assigned. Activities and decisions are varied in nature, requiring independent action and judgment in solving common problems. Unusual cases or questionable matters are resolved with position's supervisor or other appropriate positions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to effectively supervise the work of others. Ability to maintain a variety of operating & general records. Knowledge of institutional or commercial Food Service management procedures & practices. Knowledge of health & safety requirements applicable to a large scale food service operations. A basic knowledge of PC's and or food production software.

Physical Demands

Move loads up to 50 lbs, unloading and stocking products; perform push/pull activity with products weighing up to 30 lbs; perform duties with repetitive motion of wrists, arm, and shoulder, possess hand and finger coordination; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, and kneel; and work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors. Work long hours standing, and under conditions of high temperature.
