Network Engineer Lead

Where you will work: This position will be based out of Astound's Long Island City, NY office.

A Day in the Life of the Network Engineer Lead:



  • Supports the Sales Engineer with daily functions as needed
  • Supports the Project Manager with daily functions and provide updates as needed
  • Designs fiber-based solutions for DIA, Voice, Point to Point, Network Upgrades etc.
  • Prepare Project Management Packages for Enterprise installations
  • Maintain, review and update Enterprise Survey Database (Sugar) and Prepare BOM's and
    SOW's
  • Participate in corporate and local engineering initiatives and projects, including product
    development, vendor and equipment evaluation
  • Performs back-office tasks as needed to properly provision and document deployed network
    elements
  • Assists with transport and other communications platforms
  • Performs back-office tasks as needed to properly provision and document the deployment of
    network elements in circuit management database
  • Strong record keeping abilities for as builds
  • Perform site survey walkouts as necessary
  • Provide necessary technical support to customers as needed and where appropriate
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


What You Bring to the Table:

Experience



  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience with Ethernet, IT, routers and switches
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of IP addressing, IP subnetting, Ethernet switching and routing.
  • Experience with T1 and PRI testing and troubleshooting
  • Ability to interpret network design maps, CAD designs
  • Experience with CAD and VISIO
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of databases preferred
  • Manual skills including wall and rack mounting equipment, Ethernet and T1 cable construction
    and 25-pair cable termination
  • Cisco, Telco Systems and AdTran equipment experience

  • Demonstrate ability to provide results without sacrificing business relationships


Education and Certifications:



  • Engineering Degree preferred
  • CISCO Certifications a plus
  • Other Technical Certifications a plus

    The base salary in New York for this position is $75,000-85,000 annually plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to New York and may not be applicable to other locations.
