Job Summary

Designs and oversees nursing and administrative operations in the adult cardiac catheterization & electrophysiology labs and the adult pre and post-procedural holding room. Accountable for overall administrative planning and coordination of the staffing, fiscal and material resources. This includes interviewing and hiring, budget and productivity awareness, and close collaboration with the Materials Management department. Assists with development and implementation of new programs and policies. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24 hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources. Direct reports are typically supervisor level.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $225,295 - $246,238 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

This position has operational oversight of two cost centers, three functional areas (Cath Lab, EP Lab, and Pre- Post- Holding Room), 45 FTEs, and has a dotted line to 3 separate Medical Directors (Cath, EP, and Structural). This role interfaces with the Materials Management team who provide inventory and equipment stocking support (these staff are located on the unit), the scheduling teams who schedule cases within the labs, and the Radiation Safety Department who helps oversee safe radiation safety practices within the labs. The position is responsible for maintaining the volumes and revenue associated with a flex-based budget, ensuring 24/7 staffing levels for the Cath Lab, negotiating, and helping to implement contracts, onboarding novel therapies, and providing clinical coverage when needed. This position will also liaison with other UCSF Health interventional cardiology departments and locations to facilitate standard practice and assistance with cross-coverage operational needs.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum five (5) years related experience
  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services. Knowledge of cath and EP lab operations with in-depth expertise in patient care services. Experience managing disaster incidents, critical events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making
  • Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments
  • Previous clinical experience in an interventional/procedural or OR/PACU level environment

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area
  • Familiarity with Union environment and bargaining agreement covered staff

License/Certification


  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
