This role is part of the Advanced Concepts Enterprise Engineering (ACE) organization, where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. ACE allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.

As part of a small passionate and accomplished team, you will participate in the development and implementation of Configuration and Data Management systems for Blue Origin.

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Configuration & Development Engineer to help lead the development, ownership, and continuous improvement of configuration and data management processes, workflows, and tools. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in configuration control, change control, data management, and workflow optimization. This role will play a critical role in driving developing and improving strategies for configuration management throughout the product lifecycle and implementing best practices to support the organization.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing and establish new Blue Origin configuration management processes to support needs across various programs.
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Evaluate and recommend configuration and data management methodologies, technologies, and tools to support the organization's business objectives and future growth.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and support the integration of systems or applications.
  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders at various levels across Blue Origin to identify configuration and data management needs, define requirements, and drive the implementation of scalable solutions.
  • Create and continuously monitor process metrics and performance indicators, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and own instructional content and training courses on configuration and data management for the enterprise.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, promoting professional development and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in engineering and 8+ years proven ability in aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or other related industry.
  • 8+ years experience in the development and/or manufacturing of highly integrated and complex products
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Advanced professional expertise of configuration management principles and practices
  • Demonstrated configuration control experience on recently developed products from early trade studies through final design and into manufacturing and test, maintenance and sustaining.
  • Experience managing multiple configuration variants of a common design baseline.
  • Experience managing changes to an operating system with varying effectivity across multiple products.
  • Familiar with viewing and navigating large models in CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred)
  • Knowledge of with product lifecycle management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning and/or data management tools
  • Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Experience with large assembly management in PTC Creo or other CAD tool.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill PLM tools
  • Familiar with EIA-649-C and DO-178C
  • Familiar with CAD conventions such as ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41
  • Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques and related quality control concepts
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30;CO applicants is $134,838.38-$188,773.73;WA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
