Job Overview

Macy's is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Paid Social to lead our social media advertising efforts. You will be responsible for developing and executing innovative paid social strategies across major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat) to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and sales.

What You Will Do



  • Own strategy and management of all paid social media campaigns, ensuring paid social is part of an integrated media plan.
  • Define and own social media strategies to drive customer acquisition, engagement, and conversion.
  • Identify targets for each business line and project social media impact.
  • Collaborate with content and creative teams to innovate and improve storytelling through social media.
  • Optimize paid social media spend using customer analysis.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive sales and mitigate risk for the paid social channel.
  • Manage and share a reporting framework that captures program performance and provides actionable recommendations.
  • Present weekly reports on program and channel performance in a cross-functional setting.
  • Use media mix modeling and last click to identify ROI and media investment impact.
  • Manage external agency, vendor, and marketing technology relationships to enhance social media capabilities.
  • Mentor teams to maximize their potential and growth.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on social media.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities


Paid Social Strategy:



  • Develop and implement comprehensive paid social strategies that align with overall marketing objectives and brand positioning.
  • Conduct in-depth audience research and segmentation to identify target demographics and interests.
  • Collaborate with creative and content teams to create compelling ad creative and messaging that resonates with our target audience.


Platform Optimization:



  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices for each social media platform.
  • Optimize ad performance by testing different ad formats, targeting options, and bidding strategies.
  • Utilize platform-specific tools and analytics to measure campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.


Budget Management:



  • Manage and allocate the paid social budget effectively to maximize ROI.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance to ensure efficient spending.
  • Negotiate favorable rates and terms with social media platforms.


Team Leadership:



  • Lead and mentor a team of paid social specialists to ensure effective execution of campaigns.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Manage agency relationships, holding partners accountable for performance and optimizations


Measurement and Analysis:



  • Track and measure KPIs such as clicks, impressions, conversions, and return on ad spend (ROAS).
  • Analyze campaign data to identify insights and optimize future strategies.
  • Utilize attribution modeling to measure the impact of paid social on overall marketing goals.


Skills You Will Need



  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and targeting options.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform campaign decisions.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in the retail or e-commerce industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Ads Manager, Google Analytics).
  • Experience with social media content creation and management preferred.
  • Certifications in social media advertising or marketing preferred.

  • Candidates with 8+ years of experience in paid social media advertising, with a proven track record of driving results and a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
