We are looking for a Slitter Operator that is responsible for safe and efficient operation of all slitting machines according to company procedure and guidelines. Included in their duties is ensuring that they read the order properly, ensure all raw materials are available, and following all Quality and Food Safety system procedures. The Slitter Operator will also be required to assist in other areas of the Printing Department and complete any tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

The salary range for this position is $XX,000 to $XX,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. This range is provided to ensure clarity and promote equitable access to employment opportunities.


Responsibilities

When your actions lead to success:



  • Supports all activities in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety management system
  • Report any quality and/or food safety problems to personnel of authority to initiate action.
  • Mental Ability - The Slitter Operator must be able to read orders and setup the machine properly. They must be able to communicate orally with crewmembers and keep accurate records in their "run reports". The slitter Operator must be able to read a tape measure accurately and operate a calculator for basic mathematical computations. Be able to recognize and match color to order requirements.
  • Physical Ability - The Slitter Operator must be able to climb up steps/or ladder in order to set-up or troubleshoot the equipment. Must be able to lift up to 40-70 pounds to assist co-workers in lifting shaft cylinders and/or ink pails and be able to exert 30 lbs. force to maneuver rolls, print cylinder carts or raw materials into place.
  • Safety - It is a plant policy to work in a safe manner. All Slitter Operators must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-tag-try procedures, observe hazards such as nip points, properly handle and label hazardous waste and follow plant and department safety rules.


Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of reading, writing, basic mathematics on approximately a 10th grade level
  • Previous slitter experience is preferred (1 year)
  • Experience is necessary and can be obtained from working on similar equipment or working as a Printing Press Assistant in our facility then promoted
  • Knowledge of print defect identification, print order forms and print trim positions
  • Must know how to use and read a tape measure
