Temporary Employment Program
Job Summary The duration of this temporary role is approximately 6 months.
The Office of the the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost occupies a unique and important role at UCSF. It is second to the chancellor and has oversight of several major areas including research, academic affairs, student academic affairs, the Graduate Division, Information Technology Alliances, CORES, Clinical Translational Research, as well as the University Library. The central administrative departments that comprise this organization support diverse interests and campus constituencies including faculty, students, staff, and trainees as well as the community at large.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, weight, organize backlog of CPRA requests, beginning with 2024.
- Work with the administrative director to bring requests up to date, including:
- Sending and recording 10-day letter
- Following up with requester
- Identifying record custodians
- Sending advisory of disclosures as needed to vendors
- Reviewing, redacting, and producing responsive, non-exempt records
- Tracking request activities in PRA database
- Collaborate with the administrative director to develop processes and best practices to ensure that requests are processed and closed in a timely manner.

- Lead efforts to conduct highly complex analyses across a broad spectrum of programs, policies, and initiatives or provide in-depth, complex analyses as a specialist in one policy field.
- Develop and coordinate policy or program communications; formulate strategies for education and enforcement.
- Develop and advocate solutions to organizational or research program issues, including developing and administering new systems, policies, processes, or programs.
- Provide analyses for complex budget, funding, financial, or academic data, systems, and resource projects, working directly with internal and external constituents.
- Propose, lead, and/or participate on policy, strategy, and planning committees and working groups.
- Research and summarize best practices in the field.
- Develop proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader strategic direction for the function, research initiative, program, and/or organizational unit.
- Collaborate with partners to coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of new programs and processes.
- Make high-level contacts of a sensitive nature, internally and externally, requiring discretion and diplomacy to negotiate with or persuade officials to adopt proposed solutions or program/process recommendations.
- Lead and direct a wide variety of projects and follow through with all levels of staff and individuals inside and outside the organization.
- Guide and direct planning which may include senior management, faculty, and/or external constituencies.
- Lead a team of lower-level analytical, research, and administrative staff, as needed.
- Develop and present complex proposals on a broad range of issues, including problem identification, costs, benefits, and options.

Department Description UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols, and procedures.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
