Position Overview: The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for increasing plant performance and process control through the application of engineering methodology, data collection and analysis. This role reports directly to the VP of Operational Excellence.
Critical Success Factors:
- Develop the facility process control plan to establish a clear operating envelope for each system
- Optimize manufacturing processes to improve process control and productivity through the daily monitoring, analysis and reporting of critical process data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and provide technical support in the resolution of process upsets.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate across organizational boundaries.
Responsibilities:
- Lead process control development and operational framework implementation plantwide
- Support the development of standard operating procedures for plant operations
- Provide daily reporting and analysis of plantwide KPIs
- Identify cause and effect relationships using a data driven approach
- Organize and manage multiple projects and tasks to assure high quality and timely service to both internal and external customers
- Collaborate with other functions (production, engineering, EHS, etc.) on projects and on resolving process concerns
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited College or University
- 5+ years of previous work experience with process improvement in a manufacturing environment
- Proven leadership skills to champion change in a highly dynamic environment, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends and propose solutions for process optimization
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and to champion change in a highly dynamic environment
- Strong understanding of process flows, P&ID's and mass/energy balances
- Experience with process control systems and data historians (e.g. Wonderware, PI, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong track record of delivering business results through time management, action planning, prioritization of tasks, attention to details, and meeting deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, ability to work well under pressure, with an appropriate sense of urgency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred, but not required
- Previous experience with metallurgical processes preferred, but not required
- Experience using statistical software and tools preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willingness and ability to work in a hot/high temperature production facility while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
Compensation Information: Salary Range: $107,159.62 to $176,713.06. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
