We believe in paying people fairly, so we've established a compensation model aimed to ensure everyone at Fearless - regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, nationality, or negotiation skills - is given equal pay for equal work. The salary ranges for this position based on location are listed below. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified as a part of our annual salary range review.

- NC Residents: $103,935 (min) - $135,115 (mid) - $166,296 (max)
- DE, MD, PA, TX, VA Residents: $109,132 (min) - $141,871 (mid) - $174,610 (max)
- DC Residents: $122,643 (min) - $159,436 (mid) - $196,229 (max)
- CA, NY, NJ Residents: $126,800 (min) - $164,299 (mid) - $202,881 (max)

What you'll be doing:
We're looking to change the world by building software with a soul, and we want your help. The Data Engineer is responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining scalable tooling and infrastructure for managing data in a system. This includes building automated data pipelines, managing data storage, and creating systems to make data available to users. The Data Engineer also supports the team by performing tasks like data analysis, interpretation, extraction, formatting, labeling, cleaning, transformation, reduction, discretization, annotation, loading and processing. Responsibilities and Contributions
Organizational and Leadership Role
- Coach teams on how to properly make decisions with data.
- Be an advocate for best practices and continued learning.
- Takes initiative for their own growth through personal leadership.
Functional Role
- Designs and implements internal processes for automating data delivery and optimization.
- Builds and maintains secure tooling and infrastructure for scalable automated data pipelines and machine learning models that align with business needs.
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
- Collaborates with Data Scientists and Business Analysts to improve data models that solve problems and support data-driven decision making.
- Supports regular ad-hoc data and analysis needs to better understand customer behaviors.
- Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality and volume, ensuring data is accurate and available.
- Performs analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
- Evaluates data ingestion, data analysis and machine learning tools for efficacy.
- Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Works closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.
- Evaluates existing data systems to improve data quality and governance
Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies
Must-Have Skills
- Must have current or prior local, state, or federal government experience.
- A minimum of 6-7 years of demonstrated directly related working experience.
- Demonstrated high proficiency working with Python
- Demonstrated experience working with large digital delivery projects
- Demonstrated experience working with large APIs
- Demonstrated experience and high proficiency with Azure, AWS (Redshift is highly desired)
- Demonstrated experience and expertise with Cloudwatch
- Ability to obtain required security clearance for this project: Public Trust
- Current or prior working experience in government contracting space
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning Tools and Software.
- Experience in statistics, data processing, or data annotation.
- Understanding of quality assurance with respect to data and models.
- Demonstrated proficiency with programming languages including Python, R, SAS, JavaScript, and/or Java.
- Experience working with at least one data analysis tool like Hadoop, Apache Spark, or cloud-provider equivalents.
- Effective written and oral communication skills to communicate insights extracted from the data.
- Ability to understand and respond to customer needs and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, and build relationships and influence others.
Preferred Skills
- A minimum of 2 years working directly/closely with Databricks, Postgres SQL, Power BI
- Demonstrated proficiency working with Data Bricks.
- BS in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technology-related degree.

- PTO is provided to team members as a lump sum allowance, not an accrual.
