Database Subject Matter Expert (SME)

* MUST BE US CITIZEN TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR MBI CLEARANCE LEVEL, CANNOT SPONSOR *

This position requires an active MBI clearance or the ability to obtain a MBI clearance to be considered.

We are seeking a skilled Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) with in-depth experience managing, tuning, and ensuring high availability of DB2, SQL, and PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments. This role involves supporting critical database infrastructure, performance optimization, and maintaining active/disaster recovery models across platforms. The ideal candidate will have expertise with DB2 version 11.5 or higher, SQL version 2019, and PostgreSQL version 14.11 or above. Knowledge of Rational and GitLab is also highly desired.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Database Subject Matter Expert (SME): $100,000 - $155,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) Responsibilities Include:



  • Manage and optimize enterprise-level DB2, SQL, and PostgreSQL databases for maximum performance.
  • Implement and support database failover strategies in active/disaster recovery environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide comprehensive database support for enterprise Rational and GitLab tools.
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues promptly.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Required:



  • MUST BE US CITIZEN TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR MBI CLEARANCE LEVEL, CANNOT SPONSOR.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, or an equivalent combination or education and experience (Will take 4 years of enterprise or federal experience in lieu of Degree on case-by-case basis)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with DB2 version 11.5 and above at an enterprise level
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with managing and performance tuning
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with IBM Rational and DB Failover is a hard requirement
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with DB failover in an Active/Disaster Recovery model is a hard requirement
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with SQL version 2019 at an enterprise or federal level
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with PostgreSQL version 14.11 and above at an enterprise or federal level
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
  • Must be eligible for MBI Clearance


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of GitLab preferred but not required
  • DBA Certifications Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, or an equivalent combination or education and experience (Will take 4 years of enterprise or federal experience in lieu of Degree on case-by-case basis)
