LaboratoryResearch Technician

The University of Pittsburgh, Ophthalmology Department, is searching for a Laboratory Research Technician III within the Dr Sahel/Dr Maamri lab.

Bachelor or Master degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology and Biochemistry.

Extensive cell culture and molecular biology experience is required

3+ years of professional experience and in the field of vision is a plus. Ability to work in a highly collaborative and flexible environment. Show critical thinking in data interpretation. Skills for experimental data analysis and presentation of results with (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, GraphPad Prism...).


Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions

Candidate will be responsible for assay development, cell line engineering, design, execution and interpretation of experiments supporting discovery projects.

Candidate will be expected to solve assay-related problems with a high degree of critical independence.

Candidate will collaborate with team members and external partners to propose technical solutions and experimental plans.

Candidate will be asked to present data and results at internal scientific meetings.


Physical Effort

Rigor and seriousness, organization and autonomy, ability to work in a team, good communication skills, good command of scientific English, both oral and written.

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
