About The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report

In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at of the Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta, Lorraine, on two continents, North America and Europe) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree.

Over 110 ECE faculty members are involved in 11 areas of research and education: bioengineering, computer systems and software, digital signal processing, electrical energy, electromagnetics, electronic design and applications, nanotechnology, optics and photonics, systems and controls, telecommunications, and VLSI systems and digital design: and the School is either home to or a key player in almost 20 research centers and consortia.

Atlanta, GA

The School of ECE is looking to fill an Academic Professional position with the Working Title of Executive Director of the VIP Program. This position will provide leadership, expertise and support for the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program, a multidisciplinary campus-wide program that supports faculty research and student development, which is the leading VIP Program in the world. The position is responsible for strategic planning, management, and research that support program expansion, institutionalization, and faculty and student success. The position is also to represent Georgia Tech as an international authority on the VIP model. The incumbent will be responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

The responsibilities of this position are: enhance the capacity, capabilities and reach of Georgia Tech's VIP Program while improving its reputation, quality, distinctiveness, and influence.

• Strategic planning that supports program expansion, improvement, and institutionalization that supports faculty research, student development, and institution objectives.
• Establish vision for operational excellence and target operating model.
• Conduct education research and policy analyses that explore program dynamics, examine student and faculty success, and support program improvement; Contribute to the wider higher education community by disseminating research and effective practices.
• Position Georgia Tech as an international authority on the VIP model by leading an exemplary program, by advising institutions on program establishment, and by collaborating with and learning from institutions around the world.

Academic Professional

• Terminal degree in education or related area
• Significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional
• Quality of performance and potential development must be recognized by peers.

Preferred candidates for consideration will have the following qualifications:

• PhD in education research, education policy, education leadership, or higher education administration.
• 10 years experience
