About UC Clermont

The Mathematics, Computers, Geology & Physics Department at UC Clermont invites applicants for our Mathematics Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).

UC Clermont College provides student-centered undergraduate education in an open-access, regional college environment. We foster diversity as well as intellectual, cultural, and social development in our community. UC Clermont College has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students and is located in Batavia, Ohio, thirty miles east of the University of Cincinnati's downtown campus. We offer a variety of Associates degrees, two-year technical degrees, and certificates and also prepare students for transition/transfer into baccalaureate degree programs. UC Clermont's open-access mission presents a unique opportunity for faculty with a strong commitment to providing a solid foundation for students at all levels to develop their academic skills and reach their educational goals.

Job Overview

On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to a diverse set of students.

Adjunct faculty must be able to teach mathematics courses ranging from the developmental (pre-college) level through calculus. Courses offered will be taught face-to-face on the UC Clermont campus and will have weekday morning or afternoon meeting times. Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students; (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year, and (4) use department created core course content as applicable to teaching assignment(s).

Essential Functions

  • On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses in person on the UC Clermont Campus.
  • Using best practices, continually evaluate student coursework.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of their responsibilities.
  • Review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related and student communications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

A Master's Degree (or higher) in: Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field with 18+ graduate credits in Mathematics.

Required Experience

Previous teaching experience is required.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Knowledge of issues in math education and classroom technology is ideal.
  • Experience teaching in a college setting is ideal.
