NV5 is looking for a driven Project-Level Geotechnical/Civil/Materials Engineer to join our Ventura, CA, office! This role offers the chance to lead impactful projects, serving as a Project Manager for both design and construction inspection/testing initiatives. You'll be at the forefront of construction materials testing and inspection, specializing in school and public infrastructure projects.

Licensed Civil Engineer in California (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Experience with CA Division of State Architect (DSA) Projects - preferred

Responsibilities

    Project manage multiple construction materials testing and inspection projects on DSA/ HCAi/OSHPD and public infrastructure construction projects.
  • Depending upon qualifications and background, manage geotechnical design investigations.
  • Direct, review and monitor work performed by the materials testing and inspection personnel.
  • Review field and laboratory reports.
  • Review plans and specifications.
  • Prepare materials testing proposals, including estimating inspection and testing quantities.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from inception through completion and have primary, responsibility for managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations, manage projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of staff.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews. Monitor and assess progress toward performance goals.


Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering, PE licensed
  • 1 year of relevant experience as a Registered PE
  • 3 years of experience in testing and inspection of construction materials,
  • 1 year of experience in special inspections or supervision of special inspection services,
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-discipline team, think creatively, and problem solve,
  • Demonstrated experience with reviewing technical specifications and field/laboratory reports,
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards. DSA, HCAi, and OSHPD experience
  • Proficient in Caltrans, AASHTO, and ASTM test methods for construction materials, including HMA, aggregates, soils, steel, masonry, and concrete.
  • Experience overseeing materials testing and inspections.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills working with city and client's stakeholders
  • Preferred qualifications include background and experience in geotechnical engineering.

The pay range for this California position is $100,000- $130,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
