Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Neurology Department seeks a qualified Neurologist for stroke and neurohospitalist service lines.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group of Neurology faculty in providing quality patient care in the inpatient neurohospitalist, stroke service and teleneurology service at UNM Hospital. Additionally, the position will assume on-call responsibilities for adult clinical services with fellow providers and participate in tele-neurology services.

Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department.

UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only Primary Advanced Stroke Center, dedicated neuroscience critical care unit, Comprehensive Movement Disorder Center, NAEC level 4 epilepsy center, and ALS / MDA center in the State. The Department of Neurology has 40 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.

Salary:

Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa to the west. At more than a mile-high elevation, this high desert environment provides beautiful sunny days but also the variety of all four seasons. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports all year-round including running, hiking, biking and skiing. Albuquerque is 1 hour from Santa Fe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for their art and culture. The State of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with 19 indigenous native pueblos, Navajo reservation and three Apache tribal lands. We have excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, numerous cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Board eligible or certified in Neurology
  • Board eligible or certified in vascular neurology or neurohospitalist fellowship completed by start date, or have established experience in vascular neurology and neurohospitalist service line
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of clinical experience in neurological care
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
